1931 Packard produced in Newark in 1930, serial # 463 1251 Packard Motor Car division. Original Packard Motor. With a Packard Detroit Lubricator updraft carburetor. This Packard has 27,000 original miles. The Packard dual point ignition and has been replaced with single point. All the wiring is original. The Packard locking coil ignition has been supplemented with a simple switch.

Painted 2006, the Packard’s previous color was overall black. It is now dark red fenders and tan body with detail stripes. It is not the original Packard paint colors but most Packard collectors and restorers repaint with whatever colors seem appropriate for the color and the body style. Original miles 27,080. Packard Speedometer, Speedometer works as well as all of the gauges with the exception of the fuel gauge.

I purchased this Packard 810 Sedan, senior, in spring of 2000 from a individual in west New Jersey where it had resided in a garage in the Packard Original black paint and original no rust condition. To get the Packard engine running required a fuel pump, battery and a cleaning and sealing of the gas tank. At that time the oil was changed in the Packard running gear and components as engine, rear and transmission.

After installing new Coker Wide White Wall (19 inch) tires in 2000, the car was trucked to Scranton, Pa. where it was stored for a period of years before beginning of the restoration of the body. The original body had no rust, and it was taken down to the frame with the exception of the main body, there being no rust, and all rubber and asphalt seals were in excellent condition.

All of the off body panels were painted with the special underbody paint that does not chip or deteriorate, the car was primed and than pained. Reinstalling the body panels was done with new seals and welting.. The painting and detail is excellent. The car has shown locally in small shows and receives much admiration as to the quality of the Packard, its paint and the finish. The thermostat regulating the grille fins, needs to be worked on as it sometimes goes into the closed position when traveling.

Side mount wheels, are painted to match the body with chrome covers…The original aluminum running boards were polished, new rubber put down and remounted. The Packard package Includes original Packard tools and a front crank. The fold down rack, has a original Packard trunk. in good condition. The Aluminum Packard grease hubs are in good condition. The Packard Military, steel wheels, have been powder coated before being painted.

Chroming of the parts included front and rear bumper bars, radiator shell, door handles, side mount hub caps, bumper balls. The original “ Packard flying lady ” radiator cap was not chromed at this time nor was the head lamps and the side lamps. Their condition being “Good to excellent”

Interior of the car is original material covered by Packard factory or special seat covers for the front and rear seats. The Covers also include the Packard door panels and the rear sides of the seats and back of the front seat. Under the cover the original grey pinstripe can be seen. As far as I can determine the covers have never been removed. The headliner and the floor carpets are all original and show little wear other than time. The original Packard side curtains, are still in position with there tassels hanging down, headliner is perfect. The front, back, and a side window were cracked, these have been replaced.

I drive this car monthly for 50 miles or so a year, It is a good and strong runner, starts easily and rides silently. Packard Roadsters, Packard Phaetons, Packard Dual cowl, Packard senior cars are all made of high quality steel and aluminum and a low mileage Packard sedan in this original condition, exception of paint, is a real find.

I am selling this classic to finish others, Please do not contact if you just want to kick tires, this is a find, an original classic. If a person wanted to upgrade the restoration, it can be done, by adding additional running lights, stone guards for the grill and other small touches not from the factory.
